Sorry
Well, seems that I’ve been lazy/busy/forgetful enough to not post on this blog for…2-3 months. My first year of college is over, it’s the summer, I’m back in vegas, found a job that will be starting soon, and haven’t failed out of a class :D. Overall, my first year of college was a big positive, and also there was a blizzard in South Dakota back on the 2nd of may….yeah…may….I was shocked too. I got to play some mario kart wii, very fun, more Brawl, even more fun, Rock Band with my roomie, freaking awesome, and see Iron Man, ****ing awesome/badass. Overall, the year has been fun and I hope my blogging speed will pick up. See you guys in the coming days.

SPRING BREAK!
As you can tell by the title…I’m on spring break. While I can’t fly home for spring break, and I don’t have a car, I still get a full week and one day off from classes. I also get a chance to catch up on some gaming, as well as some brawl in the lobby here every now and then. Either way I’m happy. I’ve been waiting so long for a break like this. I’ll give a post later today about some other things.

The best game ever
As you all undoubtedly know, March 9th was the release of a very long awaited game. Super Smash Bros. Brawl. While I do not have my Wii at college, nor did I camp at out at midnight to play in the several smash tournaments in this town, I do happen to live in the best dorm on campus. The reasons for this are as follows: many of the people in my dorm partake in roleplaying or video-gaming on a regular basis, there is a “series night” every night at 10 from monday to thursday that shows a different series, about an hour’s worth, everyone here likes south park, family guy, metalocalypse, and other great shows, and people love to share party games.
Rock Band, Mario Party, Rayman Raving Rabbits. They bring them down all the time, but of course, with the release of Brawl, what was yesterday? Why, about 10 hours of it. I got to play for about 5 of those…and it was…A-W-E-S-O-M-E-!-!-!-! The game is extremely well done with a plethora of new items and characters, while still keeping the classics. I spent most of my time playing the pokemon trainer, he is really well done in his switching of pokemon and their various play styles. Charizard is a heavy hitter and a flyer, so nice at getting back to the platform. Squirttle is fast and good at doing hits though not damage. Ivysaur is a nice combo of the two, though he’s not as good at getting back to the platform.
The other characters are still as they were before, and I can say one thing about final smashes…they kick ass… Big, destructive, eye-pleasing, shining beacons of death and destruction. A well placed smash can, quite literally, win the match, or turn the tides. They ranged from gigantic beams of energy to transformations, to summoning a freaking tank (Fox’s is OP btw).
Well, that’s all I have to say for now, hope you enjoyed by fanboyness review of SSBB.

Update and Movie Review
Hey, I know I haven’t been blogging for a while. School pulled me down a bit but it’s starting to relax a bit. I’m finally getting myself up on time for my 8 am class and getting into the groove of my homework schedule (I’m guaranteed 2 assignments every 2 days). Not only that, but I’ve been having some fun with my friends. I’m finally pulling myself from the computer screen and just going out and doing things. Granted this is still a “small town” and there isn’t a lot to do. It’s still snowing, it’s still cold, I miss Vegas, I miss warmth, but otherwise things are good.
I just got my monthly care package from my parents too. My money supply for the month, a letter, and of course, a little gift. This time I was greeted with a DVD I have been waiting FOREVER for: Across the Universe. Many of you may have heard of it, and I thought I’d give it a review. Basically, it’s a musical romance set to The Beatles. They do a fantastic job of redoing some classic songs like: All my loving, Hold me Tight, Hey Jude, While my Guitar Gently Weeps, Across the Universe, Helter Skelter, and many others. The total of songs in the movie sums up to around 30. Not only are the songs decent covers, but they are tied in so well with the scenes they are in. With the song Revolution, the character singing it is causing a ruckus. Thus, towards the end, he sounds exasperated and out of breath. Characters will even be talking normally to a person singing as if it is normal dialogue. Heck, the actors themselves are actually singing the songs.
Another amazing thing about this movie is the visuals. They are incredible, a sort of trippy, surreal, and at sometimes very moving appeal to the senses. You’ll be amazed by them if you watch it. And of course, there are numerous tributes to The Beatles within the movie. Several characters are named after people in Beatles songs: Jude, Lucy, Sadie, Prudence, Jojo, and others. While I did not pick up on them, there are other subtle hints to the Beatles (I found these on the imdb.com page). Overall, it was an incredible movie that I had looked forward to seeing for a while. It was in no way academy award material, but it was good. I give it a 9/10.

Why I haven’t been a bloggin’
Guess why. I’ve had 1) problems making my 8 am class, so I’ve been a bit angstyand unable to log on and post. 2) lots of homework in my statics and thermo class, as well as some english homework. 3) Haven’t had much to really blog about.
However, that…has changed. First of all to talk about is the Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull Trailer that came out to day. First of all…the trailer looks awesome. Harrison still fits the aesthetic look of Jones as well as some really appeasing previews of scenes of the movie. Second, I have been waiting for this trailer for a while, and was wondering if it would come out any time soon (2 months before a movie is really close).
The second thing to talk about today is Devil May Cry 4. I have been getting caught up in playing this, and it is phenomenal. I will say right now, I am not a long time fan of the series…but now I want to get all three of the others. The game has amazing visuals, simple and incredible fighting techniques, and the satisfaction of getting that disaster gauge up is very pleasing…SSS combos rock. Also, Dante is a badass. I recommend it to anyone with a 360 or PS3.
Yet another thing to talk about/just say…Valentine’s Day for single people sucks… Go SAD(single awareness day).
I guess that’s all I have for today… oh, I’m up to 14 or so songs 100%’d on Guitar Hero 3 (That’s impressive…I’ll wait for you to clap…*foot tap*…okay, done? Good) Thank you for clapping, it makes my hard work seem worthwhile.

How things are going for me
So far this year, I’ve had an alright time with how my classes have been going. I’m taking Differential Equations for math, so that’s turning out to be a good choice (I LOVE math. I don’t care how weird that seems… I LOVE it). For English I’ve taken Technical Communications, a required course at my school. It basically covers writing methods in technical work: memos, e-mails, letters, reports, etc. The teacher has turned out to be good for that as well, willing to help me with any questions I have. For degree-specifics I have Intro to Thermodynamics…easy enough except homework every class period, and Statics, which is basically physics all over again… just with the vector portions…which makes me taking physics 4 times since my junior year in high school.
Then of course there’s my favorite course basically because the professor is a really good guy. He does the material very well and makes the class enjoyable. I took Intro to Sociology last semester with him, and now I’m taking Social Problems. However, it is a very early class, and I’ve missed it once since day one…thus, I will be refining my sleep schedule a lot. There isn’t really a lot else to talk. I’ve been getting better song by song at Guitar Hero 3, thinking of starting to play Team Fortress 2 or Call of Duty 4 actively again, or work on the remaining achievements I have in Mass Effect to get…that game is so awesome…
RANT MODE (may contain language):
Speaking of that, I think it’s a good time to bring up the Mass Effect controversy. First off, any person who thinks that Mass Effect is “evil” or a “sex game” is nothing more than a logic-deprived simpleton. The mere fact that a 10-15 second “sex-scene” involving nothing more than a butt crack or a side-boob is considered so bad is just moronic. Fox News even had a debate about it and showed the ENTIRE sex scene ON TV….LIVE. For God’s sake, can you not have the common sense to realize that .01% of a game being slightly lude material in a M-rated game is natural, and that these scenes evolve after spending time in conversations developing real relationships with these virtual characters. How so many people can be so fucking retarded is beyond me belief. First it started with a blogger, then a news caster and so many people who barely touched the game, and of course the people that will be dumb enough to believe them… I’m just glad EA for one stepped in for Bioware to defend them in the controversy. Exiting rant mode.
Well, that’s all I can have for today, be safe and have a good day.

Introductions
I suppose as my first post in my first blog, I should introduce myself. I’m 18 years old, and a freshman college student in Rapid City, South Dakota. I lived in Las Vegas, Nevada before I decided to come to South Dakota for college, and I have to say, I don’t quite regret it…yet (Though I have experienced “ass-cold” weather as one of my friends calls it). My dad worked in the Air Force until a year and a half ago, so I was what might be called and Air Force Brat, though I don’t like the term, so I avoid it as much as possible. I was born in South Carolina and have since then lived in Washington (state), Georgia, Nevada, and now South Dakota.
I’m studying for a Mechanical Engineering degree, so at the moment I’m set on a degree, though I may change my mind. I’m an avid player of Guitar Hero, World of Warcraft, and a little of City of Heroes and City of Villains (and of course the occasional Smash Bros. Melle I play at midnight with a few friends) . When it comes to music I just like anything with a beat that I can bop my head to or sing along with, though country and rap are usually out of the question… My room-mate has turned out to be a good guy so far, and I finally got a chance to have a TV in my dorm, though my classes this semester have been early >_<. I like analyzing literature from time to time and my favorite book has to be “Prayer for Owen Meany” by John Irving. Check it out if you get the chance
That’s about all I can think of, but I hope that whoever reads this blog finds it either interesting, enjoyable, or just fun to laugh at me. Enjoy reading and tread lightly.
